What are Monet’s Water Lilies?
About 250 paintings of the pond in Monet’s garden at Giverny, which he built himself, painted over the last 31 years of his life. They show the lilies, the water and the sky reflected in it, at different times of day and year. In his last years Monet painted them while suffering from cataracts.
Where are the Water Lilies paintings?
Spread across museums: the largest, the Grandes Décorations, fill two oval rooms of the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, and others hang in museums such as the Musée Marmottan Monet, MoMA in New York and the Denver Art Museum, which has one from 1904.
