These are not prints. Each one is a master study, a copy of a famous painting made by hand in oil on canvas by Riya Kumari, brushstroke by brushstroke, the way painters have learned from the masters for centuries.

Each study is one of a kind, framed and ready to hang, with a certificate of authenticity. They’re painted in India and usually arrive in 7–10 days, so there’s no waiting weeks for a canvas to arrive from overseas.

Hand-painted vs. printed reproductions

Most “canvas reproductions” sold online are prints on canvas, sometimes with a few brushstrokes added on top. A hand-painted study is built up in layers of oil paint, so it has real texture, depth and the small differences that make it a painting rather than a copy of a photograph.

Prints of the studies

If you’d like the picture without the price of an original, each study is also available as an archival giclée print, framed or unframed, on its print page.

Questions

Is it legal to sell a copy of a famous painting?

Yes, for works in the public domain, like these, which are well over a century old. Each study is labelled as “after” the original painter and sold as Riya’s study, not as the original.

How big are the paintings?

The current studies are 8 x 10 in on canvas, framed at about 13 x 17 in. The exact sizes are on each painting’s page.

How long does delivery take?

Paintings usually arrive in 7–10 days. Shipping is a flat ₹200 within India and a flat USD 20 anywhere else.
